Major Areas Of Scientific and Management Activity
- Managed and supervised move of large Radiotherapy Department to new site in under four months without loss of throughput.
- Physics Lead on UCLH Proton Therapy Task Group in successful bid for Department of Health Award of Proton Therapy approved provider.
- Major input into Technical Specifications, Clinical Workflow, Room Design and Radiation Protection for the upcoming Proton Therapy Centre at University College London Hospitals.
- Consultations on Room Design and Radiation Protection for several new Radiotherapy Departments built in the UK under the Private Finance Initiative.
- Implementation and development of several specialised RT modalities, including: Intraoperative Electron RT, CT-based Total Body RT, Total Skin Electron RT, Fractionated Conformal Stereotactic Radiotherapy, IMRT, VMAT, IGRT.
- Managed and participated in the selection, planning, room design and shielding calculations, installation and commissioning of over 20 new treatment units, including Varian, Siemens and GE/CGR.
- Installation and commissioning of several 2-D and 3-D Treatment Planning Systems in close collaboration with vendors, including Pinnacle, Cadplan/Eclipse, OTP-MasterPlan.
- Active member of National AAPM Task Group 23 on Quality Assurance of Treatment Planning Systems.
- Major development work on unique high energy (66 MeV p-Be) neutron beam for Radiotherapy at Fermilab
- Personally adapted and expanded Treatment Planning System for Fermilab neutrons.
